Jay Shah Confirms Two Names For Team India’s Next Head Coach Position: Indian Cricket Team scripted history in the T20 World Cup 2024. They became the first side to win the T20 World Cup 2024 undefeated. It was an emotional moment for all the Indian fans and players. The victory ended the drought of 11 years without an ICC trophy for India. Team India suffered a great heartbreak in the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad. They managed to win all the 10 games till the final dominantly. However, they could not pass the final round and suffered a heartbreaking victory.

However, seven months after, the team landed in USA and West Indies with renewed vigour to win the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. Leading the team was the great Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. Dravid was eager to win this World Cup as a head coach as he has not been able to win any World Cup as a player. This was always going to be his last tournament as the head coach of Team India.

Indian team gave him a great send off by managing to cross the final hurdle in Barbados. India managed to beat South Africa by 7 runs in the exciting final in Barbados. The happiness in the face of Rahul Dravid was evident as he burst into an audacious celebration while lifting the T20 World Cup trophy. However, it was also an emotional time for all the Indian fans. Legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from T20I’s. It was also followed by the retirement announcement of Ravindra Jadeja from T20I’s. The final also served as the final match of Rahul Dravid as the head coach of Team India.

Jay Shah has shortlisted two candidates for the next head coach of Team India

India will travel to Zimbabwe next for a T20I series. VVS Laxman will be the interim coach for the series. However, after that series the new head coach of Team India will take over. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, has shortlisted two names for the head coach position of the Indian cricket team. Former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir, who served as the mentor of KKR and led them to the IPL 2024 title, is the favourite to take over the role. Gambhir is also eager to take up the role. The other name is still not known to the media.

“Both coach and selector appointment will be made shortly. CAC has interviewed and shortlisted two names and after reaching Mumbai whatever they have decided we will go by that. VVS Laxman is going to Zimbabwe but new coach will join from Sri Lanka series,” Shah told select media, referring to the Zimbabwe tour beginning July 6.
